Alex Ross Superman
Alex Ross is a comic book artist who has been credited with bringing photorealism to his drawings. It was in 1993 where his photorealism art came to the attention in the comic book medium, with the collaboration of Kurt Busiek. They both worked on the graphic novel, The Marvels. Also, in 1993, was when Ross took up one of his first painted superhero assignments. He created the cover for a graphic novel, Superman: Doomsday and Beyond. As his talent was getting more exposure his jobs kept expanding, as well.
Not only was he just drawing for comic books, but he also started designing statues, action figures and posters, among other collectibles. One of his most praised collectible is the Superman Forever statue, however only limited to 5,000. The statue was based from one of his most popular covers from the comic book of the same name. DC comics have also expanded his work by designing a series of actions figures based on his artwork. Of course Superman was included in that series among other characters like Wonder Woman, Green Lantern and Hawkman.
His posters have also become a much valued collectors item. For example, his canvas paintings based on his cover work, are rare collectable items, and since they are hard to come by fans usually settle for Ross' posters. Nonetheless, his contribution, of lithographs, collector's plates and even a canvas painting of Superman, to the Warner Bros. Studios has made, by far, the one of the most-best selling artists, thus far.
